Frequently Asked Questions

How do I return a faulty item under warranty?

If you experience a problem with an item purchased from Retro Game Collective, please contact us through our Contact page with your order number and a description of the issue.

Photos or a short video showing the fault may also help us assess the problem.

All warranty claims are handled in accordance with our store warranty and your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Do your pre-owned games and consoles come with a warranty?

Yes. Pre-owned products sold by Retro Game Collective are tested before being listed for sale and include our 30-day guarantee unless otherwise stated on the product listing.

If you experience an issue, please contact us with your order number and details of the problem.

Can I return an item if I change my mind?

Change-of-mind returns may be accepted provided the item is returned in the same condition in which it was supplied.

Items must include all original cases, manuals, accessories and other included components where applicable.

Please contact us before returning any item. Return postage for change-of-mind purchases is the responsibility of the buyer.

Change-of-mind returns do not affect your rights in relation to faulty products under Australian Consumer Law.

What condition are your games in?

Because most of our products are pre-owned, cosmetic condition will vary.

We individually assess our games and clearly state the condition on each product listing. Where applicable, listings will also indicate whether the game includes its original case, manual and other included materials.

Photos form part of the product description, so we recommend checking them before purchasing.

Are the photos of the actual item I will receive?

Where an item is individually photographed, the images shown are of the actual product being offered for sale.

This is particularly important for collectable and older games, where condition, cover artwork, cases and manuals can vary significantly between copies.

Are your games tested?

Yes. Pre-owned games are inspected and tested before being listed wherever possible.

Discs may also be professionally cleaned or resurfaced where required.

As these products can be decades old, some cosmetic wear is normal and will be reflected in the condition description.

How do I know whether a game is PAL, NTSC or another region?

The region is displayed on the individual product listing wherever applicable.

Australian customers will generally want PAL releases unless they are specifically collecting another region or using compatible hardware.

Please check the listing carefully before purchasing, as some consoles and games are region locked.

What does CIB mean?

CIB means Complete in Box.

For most games this generally means the game, original case and original manual are included.

Any missing components or notable differences will be mentioned in the individual product listing.

When will my order ship?

Orders generally ship within 1–2 business days.

Processing may take slightly longer during busy periods, weekends or following public holidays.

Once your order has been dispatched, tracking information will be provided where applicable.

How long will delivery take?

Delivery times depend on your location and the shipping service selected at checkout.

Metro areas will generally receive orders faster than regional and remote locations.

Shipping estimates begin once your order has been dispatched and do not include order processing time.

My tracking number isn't working. What should I do?

Tracking information may take several hours after dispatch to become active.

It is also normal for some parcels to have limited tracking updates while travelling between sorting facilities.

If your tracking has not updated for an extended period or there appears to be a problem with the delivery, please contact us and we will assist where possible.

What happens if I'm not home when my order arrives?

This will depend on the delivery service used.

The carrier may take the parcel to a nearby collection point, post office or depot, or follow the delivery instructions associated with the shipment.

Please follow the instructions provided through your tracking information.

Can you deliver to PO Boxes or Parcel Lockers?

Yes, where the selected shipping service supports delivery to PO Boxes or Australia Post Parcel Lockers.

How do I change or cancel my order?

If you have made a mistake with your order, please contact us as soon as possible.

We can usually modify or cancel an order provided it has not already been packed or dispatched.

Once an order has been dispatched, we may no longer be able to make changes.

My shipping address is incorrect. Can I change it?

Please contact us immediately if you notice an incorrect delivery address.

If the order has not yet been dispatched, we will do our best to update it.

Once a parcel has entered the delivery network, we may not be able to change the address.

How do I know if a product is in stock?

Our website inventory reflects the products currently available for sale.

Because many of our games and consoles are individual pre-owned items, there may only be one copy available.

Once that copy sells, it may be some time before we receive another.

An item I want is sold out. Will you get another one?

Possibly!

Our inventory changes constantly as we source, purchase and trade pre-owned games, consoles and accessories.

For uncommon titles we cannot always provide an ETA, but sold-out products may return when another copy becomes available.

Do you buy or trade retro games and consoles?

Yes.

Retro Game Collective purchases selected games, consoles and accessories.

If you have a collection you would like to sell or trade, visit our Sell Your Games / Trade-In page and provide as much information as possible about what you have.

Larger collections are welcome.

Do you buy damaged or non-working consoles?

In some cases, yes.

Because we repair and restore gaming hardware, we may be interested in faulty consoles or equipment depending on the model and condition.

Contact us with some photos and a description of the fault and we can let you know whether we're interested.

Do you repair consoles?

Yes. Retro Game Collective offers selected console repair, servicing and restoration work.

Services may include cleaning, thermal servicing, troubleshooting and selected component-level repairs.

Availability will depend on the console and the fault, so please contact us before sending or bringing in any equipment.

Do you clean consoles before selling them?

Pre-owned consoles are inspected and cleaned before sale.

Depending on the console and its condition, additional servicing may also be carried out where required.

Any significant cosmetic wear or known issues will be disclosed in the product listing.

What payment methods do you accept?

Available payment options are displayed during checkout and may include major debit and credit cards, PayPal and Afterpay.

Can I place an order over the phone?

Orders should be placed through the Retro Game Collective website so that payment, inventory and order information are recorded correctly.

If you're having difficulty placing an order, please contact us and we'll be happy to help.

Can I pick up my order?

If you require another copy, please contact us with your order number.
